Guest Testimonials
At Blue On Blue B&B, we aim to provide every guest with gracious service and a memorable experience. Take a moment to read what our past visitors said about their stay in St James.
We had a lovely stay... The most comfortable bed with the best linen ever! Yoliswa was so helpful and produced an amazing breakfast! Nothing was too much trouble for her!
S. Z.“A lovely place in a perfect spot”
Yoliswa cooks an AMAZING breakfast. The staff are friendly and the views are outstanding. The owners give back to the community through a local non-profit.
The art and decor are truly wonderful.
C. L. A."Great little B&B."
Loved the colourful decor, location good, could walk into town, and close to train station and beaches. Lovely breakfast, very helpful.
L. G.“Lovely place to stay”
We spent 1 night in the honeymoon suite, a beautiful room, very interesting artwork throughout the whole B&B, the owner supports local African art. Had a scrumptious breakfast, the staff friendly and very helpful.
M. A.“I will recommend this B&B. Beautiful view from our room and a short walk to the town, Kalk Bay.”
Lovely little guest house in the tiny town of Saint James, which is just a sliver between Muizenberg and Kalk Bay, so don't drive too fast! The proprietress Yoli is warm and welcoming and fixes delicious breakfasts (ask for the garlic mushrooms). Lots of contemporary local art and flavor, yet the building itself has wonderful character from an earlier time. I walked to local restaurants every night along the coast. Just what I needed for a relaxing seaside holiday.
O.R.“A little treasure”
Wonderfully located and what a gem. Excellent welcome and staff with an amazing room and view. Large spacious room, very quiet, relaxing and comfortable. Close to a range of wonderful restaurants and easy walking between Muizenberg or Kalk Bay. Well prepared and comprehensive breakfast. On site parking. instructions to find Blue on Blue excellent, detailed and accurate.
G.R.“Excellent Hideaway"
Blue On Blue is a lovely small b&b along the false bay coastline. I had sea view room and loved watching the changing (blue!) ocean colors. Very intimate and with a fun and colorful interior decor. Yoli is a warm and generous hostess and fixed me lovely breakfasts just to my taste -- the eggs and mushrooms were delicious. I found walking to Kalk Bay and Muizenberg quite easy along the ocean path.
Z. C.“I am true blue for this b and b!”
My husband and I enjoyed our 2 night stay at Blue On Blue very much. A most luxurious room, comfortable bed, bath with a sea view-absolutely lovely. The breakfast was delicious-really sets you up for the day. We enjoyed being so close to the train station, which made transport to all over the city very accessible. The staff were helpful and accommodating. We can highly recommend this establishment as a "spoil yourself" spot.
A. A.“Restful Stay”
The Blue on Blue Bed & Breakfast was an excellent choice. The service was of a very high standard, the welcome was very friendly and we were shown all the rooms of the house and made very welcome. The breakfasts were top-notch and I am very pleased that we stayed there. I recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in that area - the views from the bedroom and bathroom area were stunning. There is ample parking and the property is very neat and clean.
M. L.“An excellent choice!!”
We opted for this space as it was right between the beach communities of Kalk Bay and Muizenburg, and right above the St. James tidal pool. The view from our King-bed suite was gorgeous. The bed was comfortable and the linens were high quality. The hostess Ms. Yoliswa provided warm, friendly service and a satisfying hot breakfast (she prepared my eggs just how I like them). We were particularly fond of the local artwork and handprinted upholstery and curtains in the common area. It was a charming spot and we would definitely return if we came back to the Cape Town area.
N. K.“Delightful!”
My second visit to this little diamond of a spot (last year, same time). Thought I had already left a review, but if not, it is worth mentioning again. April is a spectacular time to enjoy autumn in the cape, and Blue on Blue is as good a place as you will find to enjoy the False bay area. Eyepopping views of the peninsula and ocean. As a bird lover, I particularly enjoyed my daily hikes up the 272 steps on the mountainside leading to the upper drive, where birds of all kinds (flycatchers and lots of colourful others) flit about from branch to branch. Once at the top, the whole bay is laid out in front of you. Breakfasts are quite nice and Yoli the hostess is a jewel, always friendly and helpful. Plenty of good reading on local attractions to be found in the library, not to mention quite an array of fiction. Beautiful nouveau African artwork throughout. I left with a smile once again.
G. M.“Wonderful to be back! Just like home…”
On a recent trip to Cape Town, we had heard of a B&B outside of Cape Town called Blue on Blue. As this was our first trip to South Africa, we booked two of their three rooms on faith. We were so happy that we took that leap of faith because this B&B was simply fantastic. Upon arrival we were met by the most wonderful hostess who made us feel like we were all VIP's. She was so helpful and made sure our accommodations were satisfactory. The rooms were gorgeous and well furnished. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms had that cozy down to earth comfortable feeling. The views outside our windows were of the Indian Ocean and with the windows open, we would go to sleep at night to the sounds of the surf. Breakfast was first class each morning of our three day stay. My wife and I are already talking about returning one day and staying for much longer at the Blue on Blue.
M. F.“A Beautiful Charming Home”
I'm a regular in Cape Town, but I haven't tried the False Bay side lately. This little B and B is perfect for checking out the "warm side" of the cape. Lovely linens, beautiful artwork and a warm hostess. You get a full view of the ocean every morning as the sun rises and turns passing clouds pink. I walked along the nearby beach pathway every morning for my constitutional and took in the fresh air. There are lots of casual eateries within 10-15 minutes walking distance in Kalk Bay or Muizenberg. I recommend the sandwich place on the Muizenberg waterfront for their delicious bunny chow.
V. D.“Very cool B&B”
This was the last guesthouse we stayed in on our trip and it was one of (if not the) best guesthouse. It is hidden away a little up the hill, but still in walking distance to the beach road, the train station, and a nice tidal pool. Being up on the hill, it has the nicest view you can imagine. I was taking a shower or laying in bed while watching whales swim in the bay! The place is full of art, all the walls are covered in great (south african) paintings and photographs. And hey, I should know, I am an art historian :) Also, the staff was great and made the stay very comfortable and like you were at home.
A. G."Very soulful and charismatic guesthouse with a fantastic view!"
